2 Pieces of Giant LSAW Steel Pipes Shipped to Qatar on Oct 26th
It has been quite a while since Baowu Special steel’s last order placed from Qatar, one of the most economically developed countries in the Middle East. However, Baowu Special steel was fortunate to fulfill a very special order from that country in late October on the 26th. And the shipment just got discharged at the Doha Port a few days ago, followed by recognition and appreciation of its client in writing.
Qatar is a peninsula country located in the middle of the west coast of the Persian Gulf. It is surrounded by sea to the east, north and west, and borders Saudi Arabia to the south. Qatar's pillar industry consists of oil and gas and related petrochemical industries, which have long accounted for more than 50% of Qatar's GDP. They are mainly the oil and natural gas sector, related industries and energy-intensive industries, including refineries, petrochemical plants, fertilizer plants, steel and cement plants. Qatar was the world's largest exporter of LNG in 2022, with LNG exports of approximately 80 million tons. China has become Qatar's largest trading partner since 2020. In 2023, the bilateral trade volume between China and Qatar was over US$ 24 billion, with China’s export volume being US $3.64 billion and import volume being US$ 20.9 billion.
Unlike most other orders featuring standard items, this order is exclusively customized according to the client’s requirement, including only 2 pieces of LSAW steel pipes that have achieved record size of any single item for Baowu Special steel since its foundation. Each pipe has a length of 9.6 meters and a diameter of 2 meters, in addition to an 8-centimeter wall thickness. So they all each had to be loaded by an ultra-long truck on their way to the port.
As many of us might be familiar with, LSAW pipe stands for “longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe”, which is a high-quality, efficient and reliable welded steel pipe with many advantages and a wide range of applications. Aside from good anti-corrosion properties extending the service life of the pipes, it also has remarkable wear resistance and impact resistance, and can be used in various complex environments. Therefore, it is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, natural gas, water supply and drainage and other fields.
